The feed fills fruit pallet boxes (1) and has a frame (2) to be introduced above the pallet box, to place fruit (6) in it. There is a passage (7) to guide the fruit, extending up and across the frame and which is formed by the descending run (8a) of a conveyor belt (8). One belt face has a deformable covering (9), and the space between this and the run is less than the size of the fruit. When the fruit arrives at the top of the passage (7a), it is moved down by the descending run to the passage outlet (7b).
