PURPOSE:To hold a lubricating agent to be coated on an SiO2 layer having a finely roughened surface satisfactorily, by forming said layer on a magnetic metallic film. CONSTITUTION:A magnetic disc medium is provided with an Al alloy substrate, an Ni-P plating film, and an Ni-Co-P magnetic film, and an SiO2 film is formed to about 20nm thickness as a protective layer on the top surface of the magnetic film. The SiO2 film has fine projecting parts 1 and holes or recessed parts 2 on the surface thereof, thereby forming a finely roughened surface. |
