A cutting device and a method for controlling the same are provided to allow a worker to check a blade in real time during a cutting operation so that the blade is replaced at a desired time point. A cutting device includes a blade(30), a resistance measurement unit(60), and a controller(70). The blade cuts a target. The resistance measurement unit is connected to the blade to detect the resistance of the blade in real time. The controller is connected to the resistance measurement unit. The controller receives a resistance value from the resistance measurement unit and compares with a preset resistance value. The controller determines to replace the blade with new one based on the comparison result. The controller determines a time point the input resistance value exceeds the preset resistance value, as a replacement time point of the blade.
