With the subject of the invention - a method of covering ceilings and walls with beams and fillings of wood or wood-like materials in a fitting-together system by means of a suspension device - disadvantages, such as bulky excess lengths or difficult fastening techniques upon erecting the previous, known and, to a large extent, conventional coverings are to be avoided. These disadvantages are avoided by subdividing, for example, a beam in length, fitting it together in a grid system of, for example, 1/8 metre, screwing it together and fastening it to the building member at certain points with the aid of the suspension device. Fillings of any type can be inserted into the lateral grooves of the beams. The beams can also be fitted together crosswise with the aid of connection pieces. The suspension device is characterised in that the beam or the connection piece is set horizontally and/or vertically in all directions, displaceable about a pin or an eye screw or fixing device connected to a holding clamp, and is stabilised by joining together the ceiling or wall covering. <IMAGE>
