The invention relates to a locking device for an electrical plug and socket connection, having a mounting body which supports the socket, having a flap cover arranged on the socket, and having a retaining tab, arranged on the plug, for latching to the flap cover. In order in a simple manner to prevent unauthorised insertion of the plug into the socket or removal of the plug from the socket, it is provided according to the invention that projections are arranged on the mounting body and on the flap cover which move past one another when the flap cover is pivoted and can be suspended in at least one of the projections of the shackles of a padlock or the like in such a manner that, in consequence, the pivoting movement of the flap cover is locked in the direction of its fully opened position.
