The invention relates to a suspension device for lighting fixtures, especially having fluorescent lamps. To date, use has been made as connecting elements between in each case one cable or the like and the lighting fixture, of multipart fixing brackets whose individual parts are connected to one another by screws upon assembly of the lighting fixture. This is cumbersome and, moreover, the screws can easily be lost. The invention proposes for the purpose of solving this problem to make use of, instead of the above connecting elements, suspension pieces (15) having a U-shaped cross-section whose longitudinal rims are constructed as support flanges (19) and which have rectangular recesses (20) on diagonally opposite end regions, a diagonal spacing between the perpendicular rims (21) of the recesses (20) being dimensioned larger to a slight extent than the smallest width of a longitudinal groove in a support rail of the lighting fixture to be suspended. The suspension pieces (15) can therefore be mounted in a simple way. All that is required is to plug them obliquely into the longitudinal groove of the lighting fixture support rail and rotate them by approx. 30 to 40 DEG until the suspension pieces (15) snap resiliently into their installed position, which is axially identical to the support rail and in which the support flanges (19) grip from below inwardly projecting longitudinal rims of the longitudinal groove in the lighting fixture support rail. The invention is principally used in suspending a multiplicity of lighting fixtures to form so-called lines of fluorescent luminaires. <IMAGE>
