For the simple and secure fastening of strengthening rails of any desired cross-sectional shape on the rear of ceiling panels made of mineral fibres, spreading claws having two spreading arms made of spring steel and bent in a V-shape with one radius but free from buckling are used, the spreading claws having at their free ends at least one point and each of which being bent outwards at 120 DEG to 160 DEG after approximately two-thirds of its length starting from the vertex.
