PURPOSE:To improve the density in the vertical direction of a picture by increasing the number of apparent horizontal scanning lines in the vertical direction even if the spot diameter of an electron beam becomes smaller. CONSTITUTION:The consitution provides cathodes 1R, 1G and 1B which emit electrons, and the first-fourth grids 2-5 which draw out electrons respectively from the cathode 1 and converge them through action of an electron lens, further accelerate them to make them collide with a phosphor screen as electron beams 6R, 6G and 6B, whereby each grid 2-5 is provided with pass holes 7R- 10R, 7G-10G and 7B-10B for the purpose of allowing passage of electron beams 6R, 6G and 6B respectively, said pass holes are prepared in pairs respectively in the vertical direction with the fixed interval to form the electron beams 6R, 6G and 6B in pairs in the vertical direction. When the electron beams 6R, 6G and 6B, which are thus formed in pairs in the vertical direction, are made to collide with the phosphor screen, the vertically separated horizontal scanning lines in pairs can be thereby displayed simultaneously on the phosphor screen. |
