A suppression device for insulator chains which can be connected, via in each case one metallic hinged connection in which a metallic pin (3) engages in a metallic seat (5) and the pin is secured by means of a splint (7) against coming out of the seat, can be connected on the one hand to a metallic, earthed support and on the other hand to a supporting device for at least one overhead cable, and whose individual elements are mutually connected to one another, likewise by means of in each case one such metallic hinged connection, has as the suppression element (6, 20) a disc (12) which consists of an electrically conductive plastic, rests with its one side against the surface of the pin head (3') facing the splint (7), making contact with said pin head, and is supported on its other side facing the splint, in an electrically conductive manner, on the one limb (10) of the splint (7) which forms a prestressed limb spring, and whose other limb (10) rests, such that it makes contact, against a surface of the seat which is opposite the contact surface of the seat (5) for the pin (3). <IMAGE>
