<p>These reinforcing steel fibers are mixed with various concretes, and hence steel fibers of the cut wire type as well as a method of fabricating them. A steel fiber has an axial part (1) which has a strength corresponding to a base material at its longitudinal center, nodes (3a, 3b, 3c), in the thickness direction and lateral nodes (2a, 2b, 2c), are formed alternately on both sides of the axial part (1), the nodes (2a, 2b, 2c) increase gradually in width toward the ends of the fiber and decrease gradually in thickness, and the nodes (3a, 3b, 3c), project by substantially the same amount over the entire fiber length. These steel fibers are fabricated by the steps of forming fine wires of the desired diameter by roller groups, at least one of which becomes a drive roller in such a manner that four adjacent elongated wire blanks are assembled in one set, continuously applying pressure to the axial part and the nodes at both sides by passing the resultant fine wires through forming rollers with node-machining grooves parallel to the roller shafts at predetermined intervals, and with shallow notches at predetermined intervals on the surface of the roller with node-machining grooves, and cutting the long wires of different shapes obtained from the previous step to the necessary length.</p> |
