Process for application of a coating skin to a surface in connection with roof coatings and also wall and floor sealing, in which a coating dispersion prepared with water and consisting of a plastics dispersion, bitumen dispersion, or a mixture of both, is applied to the surface to be coated. Said dispersion is provided with an ettringite former as a filler which is added to the coating dispersion immediately before application, to be precise in such a way that at least 75% of the water of the coating dispersion in the coating skin is bound in crystalline form by the ettringite former.
