In a cable route with densely packaged multi-core stranded heavy-current cables, in order to be able to increase the permissible current load capacity, the cores (10) are sheathed individually. They are preferably stranded around a core element (8) which maintains a separation. In this way, the heat dissipation is improved by creating cavities between the densely packed heavy-current cables. Corresponding conditions prevail for example in the case of the power supply on ships using ship cables. <IMAGE>
