PURPOSE:To automate pipe expanding work fully by giving the pressing rod of a pipe expanding jig four degrees of freedom and thereby aligning and inserting the pipe expanding jig automatically. CONSTITUTION:When the head 5 of a pipe expanding jig is inserted into the opening of a pipe 2, the first part 3 of a working rod to which the pipe expanding jig is attached rotates freely relatively around the pin of a connector 12, and displaced freely in axial direction of the pin by a compression spring, and the center of the first part 3 of the pressing rod coincides with the center axis of the pipe 2. The first part 3 of the pressing rod is kept parallel to the pipe 2 by the compression spring and the axis of the head 5 is adjusted to align with the pipe 2, and the pipe expanding jig is inserted into the opening of the pipe 2. Then, the second part 4, the head 5 etc. of the pressing rod are pulled back by operation of a hydraulic cylinder 10, and the diameter of pressure medium rubber 7 is enlarged by compression between seal rings 6, 6'. The opening of the pipe 2 is expanded and the opening of the pipe 2 is pressure welded to the pipe 1. |
