A vacuum switch is described whose switching tube is arranged between a head piece and a foot part, which are in each case mounted on an insulating support. Furthermore, the head piece and the foot part are connected by means of at least one insulating strut (10) which, at at least one end, has a lateral hole (14) for a mounting means, and a longitudinal hole (13) which passes through the lateral hole. This longitudinal hole contains a conductive part (15, 16, 17), which starts at the lateral hole (15) and is terminated at the closed end of the longitudinal hole. The conductive part improves the voltage readiness of the insulating strut (10) and can be constructed in one or more parts. The described vacuum switch is provided especially for use in the upper region of medium voltage. <IMAGE>
