PURPOSE:To not narrow the space of a car room or the like and reduce the consumption quantity of electricity, by forming a functional optical thin film element in a desired position of a window glass and switching and applying the DC current of a prescribed voltage. CONSTITUTION:When the current of a prescribed voltage is applied to a functional optical thin film element 3, the first coloring layer 3c and the second coloring layer 3c are colored by oxidation-reduction reaction to have a light shielding function. The optical element 3 holds the coloring phenomenon even after the current is broken. A reverse current is applied for the purpose of fading the color to restore the light shielding property. Since two or more glass plates 2 are stuck to one another as a safety measure in respect to the front window glass 2 of a car or the like, the optical element 3 is interposed between two glass plates 2a and 2b and is protected. Thus, the space of the car room or the like is not narrowed, and the consumption quantity of electricity is reduced. |
