PURPOSE:To provide a lead-acid battery plate having good initial performance and long life by pressing under pressure a mixture of lead oxide powder and micro-capsule containing a binder and graphite powder or carbon powder in a grid. CONSTITUTION:Lead dioxide powder (0.1-50mu) prepared by electrolytic oxidation and 2% of micro-capsule containing a binder having 20% of carbon powder comprising 0.1-1mu particle size are mixed and this mixture is pressed under a pressure of 10kg/cm<2> to a grid for a conventional automotive battery. Micro- capsule is brocken with pressure, and the binder mainly comprising unsaturated polyester resin in the capsule is flowed out and penetrates into between lead dioxide particles. The resin is cured by the catalytic action of lead dioxide and strongly ties paticles. Carbon powder added to the binder gives conductivity to cured resin. |
