PURPOSE:To enlarge or reduce an optional area to optional magnification without optical operation by providing a picture information converter which converts read picture information into write picture information. CONSTITUTION:The picture information read out of the surface of an original 1 by a solid-state element 2 for unmagnification reading is converted by an A/D converter into a digital signal consisting of >=2 bits, which is inputted to the picture information converter 4. The converter 4 receives the picture information generates picture information at respective picture points from read picture information at picture points near a position on the original point corresponding to respective picture points of a copy picture to convert the read picture information into the write picture information according to an indicated copy magnification and the plotting area in the original surface; and the write picture information for copying the plotting information on the original surface to the indicated copying magnification is obtained on the basis of pieces of information from a copying magnification input device 5 and a plotting area input device 6 and outputted to a solid-state elements 7 for unmagnification writing. The element 7 writes the input picture information on recording paper 8 for copying. |
