PURPOSE:To make uniform the density of printed characters even when a time of stoppage of printing becomes long by a method wherein a time in which a dot pattern signal is delivered to a printing element is made longer than a prescribed time for delivery in the first printing after the detection of the time of stoppage of printing. CONSTITUTION:A character generator 3 delivers dot pattern signals for one line every time when a printing head 8 moves in one line, and the head 8 prints data in one line by a plurality of printing elements 8a-8g arranged in one line. In this case, an on-time preparation circuir 6 detects that the dot pattern signals are not delivered for a prescribed time from the generator 3, as a time of stoppage of printing, and controls an AND gate 7 so that a time in which a dot pattern signal is delivered to a printing element 8i is made longer by the prescribed number of lines than a prescribed time for delivery when the first printing is conducted after the detection of the time of stoppage of printing. |
