A display device is provided to prevent a substrate from being damaged or deformed by forming impact absorbing layers to absorb an external impact. A display device comprises the first substrate, the second substrate, the first polarizing plate, the second polarizing plate(60), and the first impact absorbing layer(20). The first substrate, such as a TFT array substrate, has a display area. The second substrate, such as a color filter substrate, faces the first substrate. The first polarizing plate, arranged on the first substrate, polarizes the light projected to the first substrate from the external. The first impact absorbing layer, arranged on the second substrate, polarizes the light emitted to the external from the second substrate. The first impact absorbing layer is formed in either the first polarizing plate or the second polarizing plate. |
