An electrical ignition switch (2), for motor vehicles, comprises a fixed housing element (11, 11a) provided with a fixed primary contact (Q) connected to a power supply source and with a plurality of fixed secondary contacts (W, Z, Y, R, T, X) and a slide (12) provided with a plurality of movable contacts (21, 22, 23, 26, 27) capable of connecting the secondary fixed contacts (W, Z, Y, R, T, X) to the primary fixed contact (Q) in a predetermined sequence. The fixed contacts (W, Q, Z, Y, R, T, X) are positioned at two different levels in the housing (11, 11a), and the movable contacts (21, 22, 23, 26, 27) are positioned on the slide (12) at two corresponding levels.
