PURPOSE:To execute the prevention and maintenance of a sharing device without stopping a computer system by diagnosing the sharing device without affecting a general program which carries out the updating without exclusively assigning the sharing device to a diagnosing program. CONSTITUTION:By referring to a diagnosing control table 7, it is judged whether or not at the time of the request from a general program 1, the request is to a sharing device during the diagnosis, and by referring to the diagnosing control table 7, it is judged whether or not the request is further to the area during the diagnosis at the time of the request to the sharing device during the diagnosis. At the time of the input/output request to the area during the diagnosis, a control is transferred to an input/output request waiting means 8, and at the time of the input/output request except the area during the diagnosis, the control is transferred to an input/output request issuing means 6. The input/output request issuing means 6 issues the input/ output request to a sharing device 10, the input/output request waiting means 8 sets the input/output request to a waiting condition, an input/output request re-starting means 9 releases the waiting condition of the input/output request and a control is transferred to the input/output request issuing means 6.
