<p>PURPOSE:To improve work efficiency, to shorten the time of noise generation, and to save fuel by a method wherein shift to a high speed operation is effected immediately after the energization of a generator and the speed is shifted from high to low after the passage of a delay time measured from the time of de- energization whose length is determined according to the length of the time of energization. CONSTITUTION:When a welding rod 14 and base metal connected to the output terminals of a generator 11 are energized, a signal is yielded from an energization detecting means 16 to a controlling means 17, for an engine 12 to shift from low-speed to high-speed operation. Simultaneously, an energization time measuring means 20 starts measuring the length of time of energization. A longer delay time is set in a delay circuit 17A when the time of energization is shorter than a prescribed period of time, and a shorter delay time is set in the same when the energization time is longer than the prescribed period of time. When energization is suspended, the engine 12 shifts from high to low after the passage of the delay time set in the delay circuit 17A.</p> |
