The device has a case (5) comprising an external partition wall presenting two insulating external partition wall portions (5a, 5b), where the case and the partition wall portions are formed of a single piece expanded material. A closure lens (2) closes the case, such that the case and the lens determine a hermetically closed chamber (1). A light source e.g. power LED (10), is provided inside the chamber, and a heat exchanging area transfers heat from an interior of the chamber to an exterior of the chamber. The material is obtained using a chemical expansion agent chosen from a group consisting of a sulphonamide, sulfohydrazide, azodicarbonamide and tetrazoles such as sodium 5-phenyltetrazole bicarbonate and citric acid, and is obtained using a physical expansion agent chosen from nitrogen and carbon dioxide.
