PURPOSE:To obtain the light emission of the same brightness as in case of using for a DC power supply, even when used for an AC power supply, by connecting light emitting elements of the same number which are reverse each other in polarity in parallel on the same semiconductor chip. CONSTITUTION:The light emitting elements 1 and 2 are reverse each other in polarity and connected in parallel. A resistor 3 which controls the current flowing through the light emitting elements 1 and 2 is connected in series with the both light emitting elements. These light emitting elements and the resistor are formed on the same semiconductor chip. In a light emitting diode constituted of such a circuit, when a positive voltage is impressed between terminals 10 and 11, the light emitting element 1 emits light, and, when a negative voltage is impressed, the light emitting element 2 emits light. Therefore, if the absolute values of applied voltages are the same, they emit light continuously at the same brightness as a light emitting diode even if the polarities are different. That is, they emit light continuously at the same brightness even when used for an AC power supply. Thus, even when used for an AC power supply, the light emission of the same brightness as in case for a DC power supply can be obtained. |
