PURPOSE:To ensure the accurate reading in accordance with the direction of a character matrix, by reading a character pattern by means of a miniature pen- shaped device. CONSTITUTION:A memory pen device 5 consists of a pen-shaped case part 6 and a head part 7. A ball bearing 8 formed with a part of a spherical surface is provided at the tip of the part 6. The bearing 8 holds the part 7 while covering a ball shaft 9 made of a part of a spherical surface formed in a body with the part 7. Both the case 6 and the part 7 are freely tilted within a range of angles formed by the bearing 8 and the shaft 9 and also can be twisted round the shaft. An optical pattern reading part 11 is formed to the head in a space near the head shaft. |
