A substantially anhydrous cell comprising an anode, a cathode comprising a mixture of polyacetylene and an electrically conductive material, said conductive material being present in an amount of from abo ? 5% to about 75%, based on the total weight of the cathode, an electrolyte capable of p-doping said cathode, and an organic solvent for said electrolyte, said cathode being insoluble in said solvent when said cathode is either undoped or p-doped, said solvent being stable to electrochemical decomposition, and said anode and said solvent being substantially inert to one another. |
