PURPOSE:To set a proper angle of whetting for high sharpness in a device for whetting a kitchen knife or the like at a fixed angle, by providing a restriction member which bears the back of the kitchen knife or the like being moved back and forth and by enabling the adjustment of the distance between the restriction member and a whetstone. CONSTITUTION:A hose 31 is connected to a faucet to supply a water sprinkler 30 with water little by little. A cutter is moved back and forth in the longitudinal direction of the cutting edge while the back of the cutter is placed on a support 1, a side of the cutter is borne by a restriction member 25, the cutting edge located at the upside is placed on the surface 19 of a whetstone and the cutter is twisted. To change the distance between the restriction member 25 and the surface 19 of the whetstone depending on the kind of the cutter or its size, the support 1 is elevated against a spring 10, a part 2 for holding by engagement is disengaged from an engaging part 4, a pin 6 is slid in a slit 5, the support is moved forward or backward and the holding part 4 is engaged with the engaging part 2 in a desired position. |
