PURPOSE:To obtain an optical recording medium having a stable organic thin film with respect to heat with an absorption band on the long wavelength side by providing an organic thin film containing a specified polymechin dye in an optical recording medium for laser writing and recording. CONSTITUTION:A polymechin dye of formula II, III and the like as given by the general formula I (where, A, B, D and E represent aryl groups substituted or unsubstituted aryl groups, R1-R5 hydrogen atom, halogen atom or alkyl group, Y a bivalent residual group having atom groups necessary for completing a 5-member ring or a 6-member ring and X<-> anion) is vacuum evaporated on a substrate such as polyester, glass, metal or the like or applied thereon as paint liquid containing a binder to form an organic thin film. The content of the polymechin dye in the organic thin film is set at 1-90wt% and the dry thickness of the thin film at least than 10mum. A reflective film may be provided between the substrate and the thin film. |
