PURPOSE:To omit the abrading step so as to lower the cost, by providing a punch skirt section with an abutting surface for predetermining a friction material to a prescribed thickness, and providing small punches corresponding dovetail holes to a back plate different from a back plate for pressing a die. CONSTITUTION:The skirt section 4b' of a pad molding die 4' attached to a block 9 is formed with the abutting surface 6 that will abut on a die undersurface 3b to predetermine the friction material 2 to a prescribed thickness, and the small punches 5 that correspondingly fit in the dovetail holes 8 formed in the back metal 1 for a friction-pad are dependent from the back plate 7b different from the back plate 7a for pressing the die 3. When a pressure is applied, the back plates 7a, 7b are synchronized, and the pressure that will be applied to the back plate 7b for pressing the small punches 5 is made a little bit lower than the pressure that will be applied to the back plate 7a. Using this apparatus, the thickness of the friction material is made to a prescribed thickness, any burr would not be forced out of the back plate, and therefore the abrasion step can be omitted. |
