PROCESS FOR TREATMENT OF WASTEWATERS

Improved process for waste-water treatment has the following steps: aerobic micro-organism and powdered active carbon remain in contact with waste-water of 1 ppm dissolved O2 content until the C.O.D. and B.O.D. values of the waste water are sufficiently decreased by active carbon adsorption and biological oxidation. The active carbon and biomass product are separated and 50-98% of the active carbon-biomass mixture is recirculated to repeat the treatment. The residue is oxi-dized for 30-60 min. at 200-260≰C. In this step, O2 content in effluent gas should be less than 7 vol.%; make-up active carbon is supplied, and these steps are repeated until effluent is at the desired level of pollutants.
