RECOGNIZING METHOD OF HAND-WRITTEN LINEAR PATTERN

PURPOSE:To improve considerably the operability when a linear pattern is inputted from a data tablet, by calculating the degree of difference between respective parts of a standard pattern and an input pattern. CONSTITUTION:An input device 1 takes in the coordinate value of a writing point for every stroke and transmits it to a stroke row extracting device 3. A standard pattern accumulating device 2 not only transmits the number of strokes for the standard pattern to the device 3 but also transmits the coordinate value sequence of strokes to a difference degree calculating device 5. The device 3 extracts a partial stroke row having continuous stroke numbers from the stroke row transmitted from the device 1 and transmits them to a preprocessing device 4. The preprocessing device 4 normalizes the size and the position of the partial stroke row and transmits it to the difference degree calculating device 5. The device 5 calculates the degree of difference between the coordinate value sequence of the partial stroke row and the coordinate value sequence of the standard pattern and transmits the result to an optimum pattern selecting device 6. The device 6 selects a sequence of names of pattern elements which has a minimum total sum of degrees of difference from all input stroke rows.
