The mixt. is subjected to centrifugal force used simultaneously with an ultrasonic wave, so that a purified liq. is obtd. from the centre of the centrifuge while a paste is obtd. from the periphery of the centrifuge rotor. The pref. appts. includes a tank contg. a vertical centrifuge rotor with an axial hole contg. an ultrasonic wave transmitter. In one pref. appts., the initial mixt. is fed up the bore of a centrifuge rotor into a circular row of vertical channels, so the pasty prod. can flow through radial rotor channels to the base of the tank, whereas the purified liq. flows up an axial hole in the rotor to an outlet. Used for example, purificn. of industrial waste, such as waste white water obtd. in paper mfr.; or animal blood in abattoirs.
