PURPOSE:To improve the durability and the performance of combustion of the catalyst layer by installing a heat-resistant member of low thermal conductivity into an annular space section generated between the catalyst layer and the inner cylinder of the combustor of the outer cireumference of the catalyst layer while being brought into contact with the catalyst layer and filling a section between the member and the inner cylinder with a buffer material. CONSTITUTION:With the catalyst combustor, air is supplied as an air current 15 passing through an annular section 17 between an outer cylinder 1 and the inner cylinder 2, and fuel is supplied from a fuel nozzle 3 and ignited and burnt by an ignition equipment 4. When the temperature of a combustion gas rises, a fuel nozzle 10 is opened, combustion is started in the catalyst layer 5, the fuel nozzle 3 is closed while a fuel nozzle 9 is opened, and only catalytic combustion is executed. In such constitution, the high-temperature wall of the outer circumferential surface of the catalyst layer 6 is supported by the heat-resistant member 18 of low thermal conductivity while the buffer material 19 is set up to the outer circumference of the member 18. Accordingly, the catalyst layer at a high temperature can be supported without using a cooling medium, and damages due to vibration and thermal deformation of the catalyst layer can be prevented without deteriorating the performance of combustion. |
