The rack is designed to contain livestock fodder in the form of a cylindrical hay bale e.g., is approximately circular in plan, and reduces in dia. under the pressure applied by animals pursuing the diminishing bale. A cross-shaped beam (2) with four telescopic arms (4,5) supports a fixed circular floor (1), the outer sliding parts (4) of the arms being used to mount a mobile outer floor quadrant (9,9A) together with a segment of post (7,10) and rail (8) fencing. The quadrants fall towards the centre, overlie the fixed floor when fully retracted, and overhand when extended. In addn. the quadrants may be shaped to abut at closure and may overlap by means of hinged tail plates (14), the rail segments being connected by rubber strips (15) whilst supporting a roof with guttering.
