PURPOSE:To obtain a liquid crystal display element having improved reliability of lead terminals, by superposing a substrate screen-printed simultaneously with a transfer and a protection layer and a substrate printed with a sealing material to form a cell and sealing a liquid crystal into the clearance of the cell. CONSTITUTION:Paste prepd. by dispersing carbon particles in a phenolic resin is printed by a screen printing method on the lead terminal 4 and the part to be provided with a transfer of a front substrate 1 formed with a display electrode 3 and the terminal 4. The screen plate of 400 mesh having 20mu emulsion thickness in the part designed with the transfer, about 20mu emulsion thickness in the part designed with the lead terminal and 5mu emulsion thickness in the part designed with the lead terminal is used, whereby about 10mu printing height in the transfer part and about 5mu the height of the protection layer of the lead terminal are obtained. A counter electrode 5 is formed on the other rear substrate 2 and a sealing material 6 is printed thereon. A pair of such substrates are superposed and press-stuck, whereafter a liquid crystal 7 is injected and sealed in the clearance. The cell is cut at the arrowmarked part, whereby the individual liquid crystal display element is obtained. |
