A fitting is disclosed for clamping together of two sheet elements abutting each other, in particular U-shaped sheet elements, e.g. folded grate panels A which at interconnection are placed with substantially orthogonally bended edge portions B abutting each other and having holes C in the edge portions on abutting elements placed adjacently. With a view to a fitting which is simple and low-priced to manufacture and also easy to mount with a minimum of tools, the fitting has a main part 1 serving as a stop, and a holding part 2b in parallel with and connected to same via a connecting piece 2a, the greatest dimension of the holding part being smaller than the greatest dimension of the main part and forming at least one gap 3 with same, having a width b being at a maximum equal to the total thickness of the two sheets B to be clamped together. <IMAGE>
