The knotting tools executing the knotting operation can be seen numbered on the knotting machine shown in the picture. As seen in more detail, the mode of operation of the developed device is that the individual wool-yarn pieces to be knotted in, the respective yarn is taken off from the wool-yarn holder (23) by means of the threading-in segment (18) of the eyelet (19), inserted into the yarn channel (14) and brought into the loop form by the fork-shaped feeder (15). The loop gripper (4) on the knotting ring (3) grasps the loop, draws it past round the warp yarn applied to the yarn holder (7) and opens the loop at the separating pin (8). The stitching needle (9) bearing behind it and movable on all sides widens the loop when it is inserted and keeps it open by means of the needle stop (13), so that the knot (28) can enter from below on the sliding rod (32), the sinker (29) being opened by the stop pin (33). The knot helper (25) transports the yarn ends into the knotting sinker (29) which closes during the downward movement, thereby clamps the yarn ends and thus pulls the knot taut. When the knotting ring (3) frees the orifice (35) provided, the warp yarn returns to its old position, so that a subsequent warp yarn is taken off out of the groove (42) on the yarn slide plate (34) by the take-off needle (38) and passes through the orifice (35) into the knotting ring (3) for the next knotting operation. <IMAGE>
