A picture display device displays a mixed picture signal as an interlaced television picture on a picture display tube. A picture signal, which includes a television signal, pro-duces and a digitally generated picture and/or text information signal, which can be received from, for example, a teletext decoding circuit. To eliminate any annoying "jitter", which occurs in a portion of the displayed picture, which occurs in a portion of the displayed picture in which the di-gitally generated picture and/or text information signal is also displayed, a signal is generated that substantially eli-minates the interlace in the said portion of the picture.
