PURPOSE:To obtain a rolling roll having a neck end part which is particularly provided with substantial strength and toughness in a roll having a slender neck shape by specifying the material for the cylindrical and bearing parts thereof, and forming the neck end part of a strong and tough material differing from said material. CONSTITUTION:The cylindrical shell part 1 and bearing part 2 of a roll having a slender neck shape of 0.8-1.2 ratio lN/lB between the neck length and the cylinder length or 3.8-13.0 ratio lN/DN between the neck length and the neck diameter are formed into one body of an adamite material. One or both of the neck end part 3 which is required to have higher strength and toughness are formed of a separate strong and tough material differing from the material of the part 1 and the part 2. The part 1 and the part 2 as well as the part 3 of the dissimilar materials are welded by fusion to constitute one roll. The rolling roll having the strong and tough neck part is thus obtained. The strong and rough material for the part 3 is superior in strength, elongation, etc. to a conventional roll of adamite alone. |
