PURPOSE:To produce a roughly drawn wire of deoxidized copper continuously and inexpensively with high deoxidation efficiency, by inserting an Al wire rod of a controlled amt. continuously into the molten Cu just prior to charging into a casting mold of continuous casting machine and removing the oxygen in the molten metal. CONSTITUTION:Molten copper is passed through a transfer spout 3 and is received in a charging pot 8, from which the molten metal is charged into a casting mold 7. An Al wire rod 9 is inserted into the molten copper in the pot 8 by means of a rod feeder 10 and is controlled so that the Al is incorporated at 0.001-0.2wt% in the molten metal. The increased oxygen in the molten metal is thus removed by the wire rod 9. The deoxidized molten copper is charged into a casting mold 7 and a solidified ingot 11 is drawn out through the spacing between a rotary casting mold wheel 5 and a metallic belt 6 and is worked to a roughly drawn wire of a prescribed size with a hot rolling stand 12. The roughly drawn copper wire which is deoxidized with Al to about 5-100ppm oxygen is produced continuously by the above-mentioned method. |
