PURPOSE:To inspect the degree of leakage of liquid in a housing such as a gear box or crank case of an automobile easily and quantitatively, by inserting the bellows of a measuring device having the measuring device for the internal pressure of the bellows tightly into a specimen, submerging the specimen into an external liquid and applying a specified air pressure to the bellows. CONSTITUTION:The bellows 3 of a measuring device is inserted tightly into a specimen 8, and all the openings 5-7 of the specimen 8 are sealed liquidtightly with sealing plates 51, 61, 71 or by using packing materials or sealants. Internal liquid 9 is filled in the specimen 8. The assembly prepared in such a way is submerged into external liquid 10 similar to the liquid 9 and a specified air pressure is applied through a stop valve 2 to the bellows 3 and the valve 2 is closed. The reading on a measuring means 4 for internal pressure right after closing of the valve 2 and the reading upon lapse of a specified time after the closing of the valve are read, whereby the rate of leakage of liquid is calculated from the differential pressure value thereof. |
