The object of the invention is an optical component which consists of an optical fibre and a (fibre-optic) graded-index rod lens, which is coupled thereto and whose other end surface is inclined relative to the optical axis. Such a component can be used in manifold ways, e.g. in multiplexers, splitters, optical filters and optical switches.
