Fire arrester barrier for pipe passages, particularly synthetic material pipes, wherein in case of fire a stopping element cuts the pipe (2) traversing the wall and seals the open cross section area of the pipe to the flames. The fire arrester comprises a frame (3) surrounding the pipe (2) and a metal valve (4) pivotingly mounted on the frame. When heat is emitted by the fire, the valve (4) is urged against the frame (3) by pivoting from a rest position in a plane perpendicular to the pipe axis by severing said pipe. In order to provide for the mounting of the fire arrester (1) for pipes which are already installed in holes (9) in a wall, the frame (3) is formed of two parts. To this effect, a U-shaped profile is given to the frame, the open portion being closed by a closure plate (28). On the inner faces of the closure plate and of the frame (26) small bars are arranged as a frame stop against which the valve (4) is applied in case of fire. On the contour of the valve (13) there is arranged a heat insulating mat (10) which is coated on the outer face with a layer producing a heat insulating layer.
