Spark plug with integrated pressure sensor, in which an electrically conducting surface is applied to the ceramic insulator in the region of the seal and the sealing compound injected between this surface and the metallic housing changes its electrical conductivity under changes in pressure and the measured value of this conductivity is assigned to the pressure in the cylinder of an internal combustion engine. With this arrangement, knocking noises during the combustion process can be detected in the engine.
