PURPOSE:To supress a blooming phenomenon due to an incident spot and to prevent the generation of smears, by providing a transparent thin film layer containing a reversible photosensitive and discoloring material to the front of the picture element part of a solid-state image pickup element. CONSTITUTION:A picture element part 2 consisting of a photodiode and a charge transfer element is provided at the center part of a p type foundation substrate 1. A driving circuit part 3 is provided around the part 2, and an insulated film 4 is provided at the upper part of the part 3. A photoconductive film 8 and a transparent electrode 9 are laminated on the part 2, and a color filter 11 is adhered on the electrode 9 via an adhesive 10. A photosensitive and discoloring material layer 20 consisting of conjugated heterocyclic molecule or a spiro pyrane molecule is coated over the filter 11. Thus the blooming or smears can be suppressed although the intensive spot light is made incident to a limited part since the light transmittance is reduced at that part. |
