PURPOSE:To obtain a roller piece having elastic action by cutting a material consisting of an outer shell and an inner core of different material quality to required length, forming it to dimension just before finished dimension and heat treating to form a minute gap between the outer shell and inner core. CONSTITUTION:A long-sized material 1 is formed by inserting an inner core material 2 made of very soft steel S10c into a hollow outer shell material 2 made of bearing steel SUJ. This long-sized material 1 is cut to required size and formed to dimension just before finished dimension by two or three round dies compressing type rolling, for instance, to a spherical roller 1b. Then, this roller is quenched to generate a minute gap 4 between inner face of the outer shell 2b and the surface of inner core 3b. Proper size for this minute gap 4 is 1.00-0.50mu. Thus, a roller piece having elasticity can be manufactured. |
