PURPOSE:To improve cooling efficiency and to cast a hoop continuously at a high casting speed, by controlling the pressure of the refrigerant to be supplied to cooling rolls and generating the internal force that opposes the external force during casting thereby preventing the deformation of the rolls and enabling the reduction in the thickness of the cooling rolls. CONSTITUTION:The molten metal charged into a guide flow passage 17 and a concentrical flow passage 15 is conducted into the spacing between both cooling rolls 14 and 14, and a cooled and solidified hoop 2 is cast by the rolls 14, 14. The cooling of the hoop along the axial center direction of the rolls 14, 14 is made controllable with outside coolers 18 disposed in the exposed outside circumferential parts of the rolls 14, 14 during this time. The external force acting on the rolls 14 is detected 3 and the detected result (b) thereof is inputted to a comparator 4. Which inputs the correction signal (c) for the ideal load value (a) set and inputted beforehand therein successively to an inside flow rate controlling valve 5 and an inside pressure controlling valve 6. The flow rate of the refrigerant from a pump 12 is controlled so that the internal pressure of the rolls 14 opposes the external pressure while the required flow rate of the refrigerant is assured by said input. |
