PURPOSE:To obtain a recording system capable of recording in the reciprocal direction by a system wherein a plurality of recording heads for use in different color recording are arranged in the scanning direction and the recording head is allowed to carry out recording operation when it moves outwardly and inwardly in its scanning direction, respectively. CONSTITUTION:The dot data of each color equivalent to one page is stored before recording in each of the page memories 31Y, 31M, 31C, 31BK and only the recording head 13Y is driven to record a yellow dot on recording paper 1 during its outward movement. Subsequently, the recording paper 1 is moved in the auxiliary scanning direction and the recording heads 13V, 13M are driven to make them carry out recording operation during their inward movement. A magenta dot is overlappingly recorded on the part l1 where the yellow dot has been recorded during the outward movement, whereas the yellow dot is recorded in the part l2. In the same way, overlapping recording of each color dot of the Y, M, C, BK is allowed to be completed in the part l1 of the recording paper 1 and the recording operation is repeated in order to overlappingly record the dots. |
