PURPOSE:To reduce noise resulting from printing operation by a simplified structure in which a printing part is covered with an outer cover having an oblong curve face having two focal points, a printing impact point and the central point of a cylindrical sound absorber built in a printer. CONSTITUTION:In an impact printer in which printing is made by striking types or dots through a printing ribbon 6 on a printing paper 2 on a platen 1, a cylindrical glass wool sound absorber 9 is encased in parallel with the platen 1 in a printer box, and a printing head 4 is set in such a way that the printing impaction is directed toward the diametral direction of the platen 1 and the printing impaction point P is on the straight line passing through the centers of the platen 1 and the sound absorber 9. Then, the printer box is covered with a cover 10 having an inner wall made of a reflecting material, having an oblong curve face with, as forcal points, two points, or the printing impaction point P and the center P' of the sound absorber 9. |
