PURPOSE:To shorten the reading time of an original picture, by providing fixedly a color separating filter for conversion of a multi-color original picture into the electric signal information and at the same time by reading the original picture while moving in steps the original picture. CONSTITUTION:An original 0 is carried by a roller 9 up to a position where the tip of the original coincides with the boundary between regions r2 and n2 in the diagram. Under such conditions, the revolutions of the roller 9 is stopped. A carriage 1 goes to the edge of the other side from the other edge of the original, and a sensor 6 is driven for reading during a short stop time in the going action of the carriage. Thus the red color information at a tip part l'2 of the original 0 is read in a region r1 of the sensor 6. When this reading is over, the roller 9 starts its revolutions again to carry the original by an extent equivalent to a length l'2 and then stops. The tip of the original coincides with the boundary between regions n2 and g2. In this case, the red color information of the region of the 2nd length l'2 from the tip of the original is read in the same way by a sensor r1. The region of the tip length l'2 is formed into an image at the region n1 of the sensor 6. However, this image is not used for reproduction of pictures. This operation is applied also to reading of green and blue colors. |
